The short answer

Use the EqualAtlas embed builder to choose a starting country, Equal Earth or Mercator and one of seven data layers. Copy the generated iframe HTML into a lesson, article or learning platform.

The embedded map remains interactive and contains a persistent EqualAtlas credit with a methodology link. Keep that line visible so readers can verify how the map and values were produced.

Start with the question, not the layer

Use Area when the lesson concerns true geographic footprint, Population when it concerns how many people live in each profile and Population change for the fixed 2000–2024 comparison. Density, GDP, GDP per person and life expectancy answer different questions and should not be treated as interchangeable rankings.

Choose Equal Earth for fair visual comparison of area. Switch to Mercator when projection distortion itself is the subject, and tell learners which property each projection preserves.

Choose a useful starting country

A starting country makes the first frame concrete without locking the reader into one view. India and Greenland introduce scale distortion; Bangladesh and Australia contrast population with land area; a local country can connect a global lesson to the learner's own context.

The URL stores the country as a stable slug, so the same starting view can be linked directly if a publishing system blocks iframes.

Keep enough height for interaction

A width of 100% and height near 720 pixels gives the map, controls, selected-country card and attribution room on a typical desktop page. Responsive site builders can place the iframe in a full-width container.

On narrow screens the map rearranges its country card below the map. Do not crop the frame to imitate a static image, because that can hide controls, source context or attribution.

Citation and accessibility

Give the iframe a descriptive title, such as Interactive EqualAtlas population-change map. Introduce the learning purpose in surrounding text and include the numerical evidence in prose or a table when it is essential to the argument.

An interactive map should not be the only way to obtain the result. Link to the relevant data page or download so keyboard, screen-reader and print users can reach the same underlying values.

Boundaries and responsible framing

EqualAtlas boundaries are generalized for global visualization and do not imply a position on sovereignty or legal status. Do not use the embed as evidence for cadastral, treaty or navigation questions.

For journalism and assessed work, state the selected indicator, reference year and projection in the caption. Link to the primary data source when a particular value supports a substantive claim.
