How to read this ranking
EqualAtlas calculates percentage change as (population in 2024 ÷ population in 2000 − 1) × 100. Requiring both fixed years avoids comparing one profile's 2025 estimate with another profile's older observation.
Limitations
Percentage change does not explain why a population changed. Births, deaths, immigration, emigration, boundary coverage, census revisions and modeled estimates can all affect the series.
23 of the 238 mapped profiles currently have no imported value for this indicator. EqualAtlas leaves those profiles out of the ranking rather than treating missing data as zero.
